Synergies

PIONEER, DiMAT, and metaFacturing have formed a synergy. The 3 research projects have received funding under Horizon Europe, fueling their mission to optimise industrial systems and lines through digitalisation.

This collaboration marks a significant step forward in leveraging digital tools as a transformative force for sustainable manufacturing processes and optimising industrial systems. By uniting our expertise and resources, the projects involved expand their reach beyond individual endeavours, increasing awareness about our research and creating a robust network of stakeholders.

Moreover, this synergy serves to reinforce cooperation among EU-funded research initiatives, fostering a culture of collaboration and knowledge exchange, amplifying their impact, and establishing long-lasting partnerships to create sustainable solutions for the industry of tomorrow.

DiMAT will offer a holistic digital transformation for SMEs in the manufacturing industry. This will be achieved through the development of nine digital toolkits for modelling, simulation, and optimisation in each stage of the material value chain (design, processing, and manufacturing), with data analysis services and visualisation techniques aimed at improving the quality, sustainability, effectiveness, and competitiveness of materials.
The toolkits will be deployed in 3 integrated Suites: DiMAT Data and Assessment Suite, DiMAT Modelling and Design Suite, and DiMAT Simulation and Optimisation Suite.

The solutions DiMAT is developing will be demonstrated in four Pilot programs involving European designers and producers of different materials: textile, composite, glass, and graphite. They will also be tested with early adopters throughout the project's lifetime.

MetaFacturing focuses on a digitised toolchain for metal part production, which will lead to a more resilient production process with respect to the raw materials used (e.g., recycled materials), reduce operator effort and cost, and reduce scrap due to out-of-specification parts.

The vision is to create a widely applicable Digital Twin-based process setup and control framework, fulfilling the requirements of industrial-scale parts manufacturers whose central hurdle is the effective use of available part and process data to improve time-to-market and product quality.
