The Fraunhofer Institute for Algorithms and Scientific ¬Computing SCAI combines know-how in mathematical and computational methods with a focus on the development of innovative algorithms and their take-up in industrial practice. SCAI‘s research fields in Computational Science include machine learning and data analysis, optimization, multiphysics, energy network evaluation, virtual material design, multiscale methods, high performance computing, and computational finance. MpCCI-based Multiphysics co-simulation and integrated virtual engineering workflows are used to model effects of complete manufacturing history of the used materials and components, as well as the inferences of physical effects represented by coupled CAE models. Fraunhofer SCAI initiated and is currently the leader of the VMAP Standardization Community.

The Laboratory for Manufacturing Systems & Automation (LMS) is oriented on research and development in cutting edge scientific and technological fields. Imperial College London is a world top ten university with a reputation for excellence in teaching and research. Imperial focuses on the four main disciplines of engineering, science, medicine and business and is recognised for its application of research to industry and enterprise. The Steel Structures Research Group, within the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, has extensive experience in structural testing, computer modelling and international building standard development. Previous research undertaken by the group has focussed on the structural response of aluminium, carbon steel, high-strength steel, cold-formed steel, stainless steel and concrete-steel composites, and during the past five years has studied powder bed fusion (PBF) and wire arc additive manufactured (WAAM) carbon and stainless steels. Experiments, numerical simulations and analytical techniques are utilised for assessing and developing design methods, and the results have been widely incorporated into international design guides used by practicing structural engineers.

Marelli Ride Dynamics is one of the Marelli business lines in charge of designing, producing and distributing suspension components and modules for the automotive mass market. Besides Italy, Marelli is also present in Poland, Brazil, Mexico and China.

Marelli Ride Dynamics is a Tier 1 company whose product portfolio accounts for structural suspension components and shock absorber elements. Available products range from individual components (control arms, knuckles, axles, cross member, subframes) to assembled modules (wheel groups, semi-corners). The shock absorbers product line includes the two main groups of “structural” shock absorbers (essentially for McPherson suspensions) and “conventional” shock absorbers (for all the rest), as well as the niche market for gas springs.

Marelli’s structured design and testing department is capable of satisfying any type of technical request coming from customers, with the possibility to develop parts according to specifications or as an improvement to an existing drawing.

A well-established knowledge of the main process technologies within the automotive sector and careful management of suppliers and partners allows Marelli to manufacture suspensions in a wide range of materials, also including composite materials, fully controlling their quality and performance features.
